CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (August 9, 2022) — A suspected drunk driver suffered injuries following a two-vehicle crash on East Palm Canyon Drive on late Thursday night, July 14.

According to the Cathedral City, they received a report around 10:41 p.m. of the incident that occurred on he westbound lanes of East Palm Canyon, east of Cree Road.

Officials identified the suspected drunk driver as a 74-year-old man from Palm Springs, who was found on the ground with a stench of alcohol on the westbound lanes of East Palm Canyon.

It was reported that he was struck by a vehicle, driven by a female who had been assessed by authorities in the aftermath.

Medical personnel transported the suspected drunk driver to the Desert Regional Medical Center.

Meanwhile, the female driver sustained no injuries and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Investigations also revealed that she had maintained her lane of travel while driving the speed limit.

The Cathedral City Police Department has now taken charge of the investigation.
