Steven Little Died, Two Others Hospitalized after Wheeler County Crash on 40 Freeway
WHEELER COUNTY, TX (October 11, 2022) – A wrong-way crash on Interstate 40 left Steven Little dead and two others injured on September 4.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened about 6:45 a.m. on 40 Freeway, three miles east of Shamrock. A 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a 2007 Freightliner Truck were involved.
The driver of the Freightliner was identified as 35-year-old Mohammed Abdi of Portland. He was towing a semi-trailer when he failed to stay in the westbound lane and crossed the center median, according to DPS officials. He then hit the driver side of the Toyota Tundra that Little was in, which was in the southbound lane.
60-year-old Little of California died at the scene, police said.
Abdi and his 35-year-old passenger, Mubashar Ibraahim, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Responders took the injured individuals to Shamrock General Hospital for treatment.
Authorities will continue to investigate this case.
