Stephen Stevens Dead, Another Man Hospitalized after Avondale Speeding Accident

 
AVONDALE, AZ (July 25, 2024) — A 20-year-old man identified as Stephen Stevens died in a speeding crash on Saturday, July 6.
 
According to the Avondale Police Department, the accident took place near Buckeye Road and 113th Avenue just before 6:30 a.m.
 
Investigators discovered that two vehicles drove at a high rate of speed westbound on Buckeye Road. After that, they crossed over the centerline and collided with a third vehicle heading eastbound.
 
Paramedics transported the driver and passenger of one of the two initial vehicles to the hospital with serious injuries. One of the men was Stevens, who later died.
 
Officials closed Buckeye Road between Avondale Boulevard and 113th Avenue as investigators tried to determine the cause of the crash. They reopened it at around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
