Hector Lopez Arrested and Two Killed in Greeley Rollover Accident

 
GREELEY, CO (October 17, 2024) — Officers arrested 48-year-old Hector Castaneda Lopez after a fatal rollover accident on Friday, October 4.
 
According to the Greeley Police Department, several officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 34, near Highway 257, at around 6:45 a.m.
 
Greeley Police said a passenger truck driven by Lopez overturned multiple times. The impact of the incident ejected the four passengers inside the vehicle.
 
Paramedics transported all five injured people to a local hospital. Two of those people died. Meanwhile, two remain there with major injuries.
 
The driver of the other vehicle did not sustain any injuries. They remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
 
After his release from the hospital, officers arrested Lopez on Saturday and booked him into the Weld County Jail. They charged him with two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault.
 
Officials said dangerous driving, excessive speed, and unrestrained occupants contributed as factors to the crash.
