Stephen Smith Struck, Killed by Vehicle While Riding Bicycle in Vidor

 
VIDOR, TX (March 10, 2023) – Officials identified 39-year-old Stephen Smith as the victim who died in a bicycle accident on 10 Freeway on March 7.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Rosewood Street shortly after 9:00 PM. Based on a report, Smith was traveling eastbound on the westbound side of the freeway’s frontage road prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a vehicle was westbound in the outside lane of the same service road. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle struck the victim.
 
As a result, Smith suffered grave injuries in the incident. Bystanders performed CPR but Acadian Ambulance Service and Orange County Emergency Service District 1 confirmed that the victim died at the scene.
 
The driver of the pickup stopped and cooperated with the officers.
 
As of now, officials continue to investigate the crash. No other information is known at this time.
