Mayra Santos, Alexa Santos and Kristian Rocha Identified in Fatal Two-Vehicle Encinal Crash

 
ENCINAL, TX (March 10, 2023) – Officials identified Mayra Santos, Alexa Martinez Santos, and Kristian Rocha as the victims who died in a head-on crash on 35 Freeway on March 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near mile marker 38 around 5:49 AM.
 
Based on a report, Rocha was driving a white 2013 Ford Taurus south on the freeway prior to the crash. At the same time, the Santos couple’s white 2023 Kia K5 was traveling northbound. Due to unknown reasons, Rocha lost control of the wheel and went into the grassy median. Then, his Ford crashed head-on into the Kia before it caught fire.
 
As a result, Rocha was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
In addition, both Mayra and Alexa – identified as a couple – also died in the incident. Their family have set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral expenses.
 
As of now, officials continue to investigate the crash.
