Silvano Villarreal Detained after Turlock Hit-and-Run

TURLOCK, CA (February 15, 2023)Silvano Villarreal of Tracy was arrested after a hit-and-run on Santa Fe Avenue and East Avenue on Saturday morning, February 4.

The incident occurred east of Turlock, according to the California Highway Patrol which responded to the scene at around 9:00 a.m. It involved a three-axle Freightliner with a car-hauling trailer that had vehicles onboard.

Authorities did not disclose the details leading up to the collision but confirmed that the victim followed 47-year-old Villarreal, who attempted to flee the scene.

Officials tracked the Freightliner and tried to stop Villarreal, who then failed to yield and continued heading south.

The pursuit stretched on near the Merced County and Madera County line, where assisting units laid out spike strips in a bid to slow down the Freightliner.

Still, despite damaged tires, Villarreal persisted and traveled through the Highway 99 exit at Robertson Boulevard in Chowchilla.

The Freightliner ended up being disabled on a raised curb in the center median as officials arrested Villarreal, who then got booked into Merced County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor evading.

The case is still under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
