Bus Crashes into Pedestrians at Bus Stop, Seven Killed and Multiple Injured

 
BROWNSVILLE, TX (January 25, 2024) – Seven people died while ten people sustained injuries following a pedestrian and bus accident on Minnesota Avenue and Houston Road on Sunday morning, January 21.

According to the Brownsville Police Department, the incident occurred in front of the Ozanam Center.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the victims, majority of whom are immigrants, were waiting at a bus stop to go to the bus station or airport. While waiting, a bus ran over them, police said.

Seven people died from the fatal crash, authorities confirmed.

Ten other people sustained injuries and their conditions are still unknown.

Authorities arrested the driver. Police did not release additional information about the driver, but they are facing a reckless driving charge.
