7 Hurt after Pueblo County Speeding Crash on 25 Freeway
PUEBLO COUNTY, CO (September 3, 2024) — Seven people sustained injuries following a speeding accident on the 25 Freeway on Friday, August 23.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers responded to a crash on the southbound 25 Freeway, just north of Pueblo, at about 4:00 a.m.
CSP said a 2007 Ford Expedition rear-ended a military Joint Light Tactical Vehicle with a trailer on 25 Freeway. The JLTV traveled with other military vehicles from Fort Carson when the crash happened.
Investigators believe the driver of the Ford Expedition drove at a high rate of speed. It caused the trailer and JLTV to overturn onto its top and come to a stop in the center median of the freeway. Meanwhile, the SUV spun out and also stopped in the median.
Reports said seven people suffered injuries due to the crash.
Fort Carson officials said paramedics then brought four soldiers in the JLTV to UC Health Park View Medical Center as a precaution.
Meanwhile, paramedics also brought all three passengers in the Ford Expedition with serious injuries to the hospital.
Authorities investigated the driver of the Ford for DUI. They only identified him as a 29-year-old Denver man.
