Serenity New Killed after Brown County Rollover Accident

 
BROWN COUNTY, TX (August 9, 2024) — A 16-year-old cheerleader, Serenity Da’Nae New, died in a rollover accident on Thursday, July 25.
 
A press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety said that the accident took place on County Road 225 shortly after 8:00 p.m.
 
According to the Texas DPS, a vehicle occupied by the three teens moved south at a high rate of speed. Then the driver, identified only as a 16-year-old female, lost control of the vehicle.
 
As a result, the car made a side skid. Then it overturned multiple times and eventually came to rest on its wheels.
 
Emergency responders pronounced New, who was a passenger in the vehicle, dead at the scene.
 
The driver and the other passenger identified as 17-year-old Neely Hope Mullins, of Brownwood, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics brought Mullins to Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood.
 
According to reports, New was a varsity cheerleader for the Brownwood Lions.
 
All three teenagers wore seatbelts when the crash occurred.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
