Bicyclist Scott Nash and Driver James Groenink Involved in Skagit County Bicycle Accident

 
SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (October 3, 2022) – Police identified 71-year-old Scott Nash of Anacortes as the victim in a bicycle accident on Chuckanut Drive on September 24.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Blanchard Road.
 
Based on a report, the victim was traveling on his bike northbound on Chuckanut Drive at the time of the crash. At that time, vehicle driver 72-year-old James Groenink of Federal Way attempted to pass him and caused a collision.
 
As a result, Nash suffered injuries in the incident. Paramedics airlifted him to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Groenink was not hurt in the incident.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor. As of now, the cause of the crash is under investigation by WSP. In addition, no other details are available.
