LA MARQUE, TX (January 4, 2024) – A scooter rider died while Bertha Lee Anderson was arrested after a DUI crash on FN 1765 on Sunday evening, December 24.

According to the La Marque Police Department, the incident happened near La Marque High School at approximately 6:30 p.m. Police stated it involved a black scooter ridden by a 34-year-old man and a Buick Envision driven by Anderson.

Initial investigation reported that Anderson, while driving intoxicated, struck the man riding the scooter.

Medics took the scooter rider to a local hospital where he later died.

69-year-old Anderson was taken into custody but final charges are still pending.
