KENNEWICK, WA (January 6, 2025) — A 43-year-old Oregon woman, Sarah G. Peterson, and a child were hurt in a crash on Monday, December 23.
 
Washington State Patrol said the accident occurred on Highway 397 near 82 Freeway at around 4:15 p.m.
 
According to WSP, Peterson drove a Toyota 4Runner south on Highway 397. Then she lost control of her vehicle near the intersection with 82 Freeway. It caused the SUV to roll and land in a field.
 
First responders arrived and then brought Peterson and a 5-year-old girl, also from Enterprise, Oregon, to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Their condition was not immediately determined.
 
Washington State Patrol Lt. Dustin Drout said investigators believe Peterson was under the influence at the time of the crash.
 
Drout said that detectives will continue to investigate to determine the final charges.
