Sarah Bingham Killed after Kingman Car Accident

 
KINGMAN, AZ (February 12, 2024) — 21-year-old Sarah Bingham, of Kingman, died after a car crash on Bank Street on Friday, January 26.
 
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials, the incident happened just after 8:00 p.m. The detectives with the DPS State Gang Task Force attempted to call the driver of a parked vehicle at a car wash in Kingman.
 
When detectives approached the driver, identified as 44-year-old Juan Javier Ortiz, he allegedly crashed his vehicle into the detectives’ cars. Troopers shot at Ortiz who sped away from the scene.
 
While fleeing, Ortiz collided into another vehicle at the intersection of Bank Street and Northern Avenue. Bingham, who was the driver of the vehicle, died at the scene.
 
Authorities then took Ortiz into custody with minor injuries. They booked him into the Mohave County Jail. He could face multiple felony charges including aggravated assault, first degree murder, and unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement vehicle.
 
Authorities continue to investigate this incident.
