Woman Killed in Kent Hit-and-Run on South Central Avenue

 
KENT, WA (February 13, 2024) — An 84-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries in a hit-and-run accident on South Central Avenue on Sunday, February 4.
 
Kent police officers and Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority firefighters responded to the 800 block of South Central Avenue at around 8:15 p.m.
 
Multiple callers reported that a car struck a woman and she was lying in the street and appeared to be dead.
 
When officers and fire personnel responded to the scene, they found the victim had died from her injuries. They only identified her as an 84-year-old Auburn woman.
 
At least one witness said they saw the woman walking in the northbound lanes of the street before the accident.
 
Another person witnessed a smaller red sedan crash into the woman head-on. Then the vehicle did not stop and sped away. Witnesses were not able to get a look at the license plate of the vehicle or see the suspect.

The Kent Traffic Unit handles the investigation of the woman’s death. They continue to search for the suspect driver. They ask anyone with information about the crash to contact the Kent Police Department at 253-856-5808.
