Rwangamugayo Emmanuel Arrested in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on West Orem Drive [Houston, TX]

Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Rwangamugayo Emmanuel on West Orem Drive in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (January 27, 2025) – Houston Police arrested 39-year-old Rwangamugayo Emmanuel following a fatal pedestrian accident on West Orem Drive on January 16.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 8:45 AM. Based on a report, Emmanuel was driving a silver Nissan Sentra westbound on West Orem Drive at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he lost control and drove onto the sidewalk, striking two construction workers. His vehicle then hit a light pole and a silver Lexus sedan.
 
As a result, one of the construction workers suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences only identified the victim as a 35-year-old male.
 
Paramedics transported the second construction worker and a passenger in the Lexus to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
Emmanuel is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter and assault.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
