Ruben Lundgren Identified in Fatal Cherokee County Crash on Highway 84

 
CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (December 21, 2023) – Troopers identified 23-year-old Ruben Lundgren of Jacksonville who died in a crash on Highway 84 on December 12.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened about 10 miles west of Rusk. Based on a report, Lundgren was driving a 2006 Toyota Camry east on Highway 84 at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he crossed the lanes of traffic and struck a 2021 GMC Terrain. Officials with DPS reported that Lundgren and the other driver were not wearing seatbelts.
 
As a result, Lundgren suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the GMC, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
