Rontario Simmons Fatally Injured after Pedestrian Accident in Killeen

 
KILLEEN, TX (August 29, 2024) — 20-year-old Rontario Simmons died following a pedestrian accident on Sunday, August 18.
 
According to the Killeen Police Department, the crash happened on the 3300 block of S Fort Hood Road near Elms Road at around 4:15 a.m.
 
Police said the initial investigation determined Simmons tried to cross South Fort Hood Road from west to east. Then a black Chevrolet SUV traveled north on South Fort Hood Road and entered the left turn lane. It was preparing to turn onto West Elms Road when it struck Simmons.
 
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Simmons with severe injuries. Paramedics airlifted him to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple. However, he still succumbed to his injuries and died.
 
Police said that Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman pronounced Simmons dead at 4:50 p.m. on Monday, August 19.
