Ronald Cook, Kristina Orantez, and 19-Year-Old Xiomara Encinas-Cruz Killed in Crash on Grant Road [Tucson, AZ]

Xiomara Encinas-Cruz, Ronald Cook, Kristina Orantez Identified in Fatal Tucson Car Crash

 
TUCSON, AZ (September 28, 2023) – Tucson Police identified Ronald Cook, Kristina Orantez and 19-year-old Xiomara Encinas-Cruz who died in a crash on Grant Road on September 23.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Palo Verde Avenue. Based on a report, Cook was driving a Toyota northbound on Palo Verde Avenue prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, an Audi was traveling eastbound on Grant Road at a high rate of speed and without headlights on. Due to unknown reasons, Cook failed to stop for the stop sign and crashed with the Audi.
 
As a result, Cook and Orantez, his passenger, died at the scene. Encinas-Cruz, a passenger in the Audi, died at the hospital.
 
Crews rushed the driver and four other occupants of the Audi to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
 
Tucson police said speeding and driving without headlights by the Audi, along with failure to stop for a stop sign by the Toyota, are the major contributing factors of the crash.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
