Roger Haynie and Eliva Soto Dead after Tucson Car Crash

 
TUCSON, AZ (September 24, 2024) — 66-year-old Roger Haynie and 72-year-old Eliva Soto died in an accident on Friday, September 13.
 
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened at around 7:16 p.m. on Nogales Highway near South Old Nogales Highway.
 
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered that two vehicles were part of the crash.
 
The initial investigations determined that Haynie drove a 2002 Ford Explorer southbound on South Nogales Highway. Then his vehicle crossed the center line. After that, it crashed into a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe.
 
Responding officers pronounced Haynie and Soto dead at the scene.
 
The PCSD said one passenger had life-threatening injuries. First responders transported the injured person to the hospital for treatment.
 
According to the PCSD neither Soto nor Haynie wore their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Meanwhile, the Hyundai’s driver wore their seatbelt.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
