Robert Miller Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 246 in Buellton

 
BUELLTON, CA (May 11, 2023) – Officers identified 69-year-old Robert Miller of Solvang who died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 246 on May 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just west of Casino Drive. Based on a report, Miller was walking with dark clothing on the southbound side across the eastbound lane of the highway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, the driver of a pickup truck was traveling westbound oat approximately 40 mph. Due to unknown reasons, Miller began to run southbound across the westbound lane, directly in the truck’s path.
 
The driver of the truck hit the brakes but hit Miller.
 
As a result, crews transported him to a local hospital, where he later died.
 
CHP said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. As of now, officers ask anyone with information regarding the fatal collision to contact Officer Reed, the investigating officer, at the Buellton Area Office at 805-688-5551.
