Rita Halverson Identified in Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident in Sun Lakes

 
SUN LAKES, AZ (July 25, 2024) – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office identified 67-year-old Rita Halverson who died in an accident on J Robson Boulevard on July 5.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Riggs Road just before 2:45 PM. Based on a report, Halverson was driving a small SUV west on Riggs Road prior to the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, she ran a red light and collided with another small SUV.
 
As a result, Halverson suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews took her to Chandler Regional Medical Center, where she died.
 
The 58-year-old woman driving the other SUV was also taken to Chandler Regional for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The MCSO said speed and distraction were factors in the crash.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
