Risten Robinson Dead after Tucson DUI Accident on West Silverlake Road and 10 Freeway

 
TUCSON AZ (October 7, 2024) — A 19-year-old man, Risten Lee Robinson, died in a DUI accident on Saturday, September 21.
 
According to the Tucson Police Department, the accident took place on West Silverlake Road and 10 Freeway shortly before 2:30 a.m.
 
During the investigation, TPD determined that the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado and the driver of the Kia Niro were both under the influence at the time of the crash.
 
TPD said they found the Niro moving westbound on West Silverlake Road. Then it turned left to go onto 10 Freeway. At the same time, the Silverado moved southbound on 10 Freeway at a fast speed. After that, it hit the back of the Niro. The Silverado spun and overturned, ejecting five passengers.
 
Responding officers transported the driver and five passengers in the Silverado to Banner University Medical Center with various severity of injuries. Robinson, who was one of the passengers of the Silverado, died at the hospital.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Niro sustained minor injuries, and her passenger was not hurt.
 
TPD said the high speed and impaired driving from the driver of the Silverado was the primary cause of the accident.
 
The investigation of the crash is still underway.
