Richard Poley Dies in Boulder Bicycle Accident on Arapahoe Avenue and Foothill Parkway
BOULDER, CO (December 11, 2024) — A man identified as Richard E. Poley died in a bicycle accident on Sunday, November 24.
According to the Boulder Police Department, the incident occurred at around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Arapahoe Avenue and Foothill Parkway.
Boulder Police said the incident involved a cyclist and a runner. It appeared that the pair saw each other and tried to avoid each other. However, they still collided. Both individuals fell and hit their heads on the cement.
The 34-year-old male cyclist, who wore a helmet, did not sustain any injuries. Meanwhile, paramedics brought the runner to the hospital in critical condition. He died of injuries on Tuesday, November 26.
The Coroner’s Office later identified the man as 73-year-old Richard E. Poley of Boulder.
The Boulder Police Department does not suspect impairment in the incident.
Boulder Police Traffic officers consulted with the District Attorney’s Office. There will be no charges filed in this incident.
