Richard Dowse Dies in Hoquiam Truck Crash on Highway 101

 
HOQUIAM, WA (December 4, 2023) — A 76-year-old driver, identified as Richard W. Dowse of Hoquiamas, died in a log truck accident on Friday, December 1.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash took place on Highway 101 at around 9:50 a.m.
 
Reports said Dowse drove south on the highway towards Aberdeen in Grays Harbor County. Then he stopped as he tried to turn left near Hensel Road. At the same time, a log truck driver was behind him, traveling in the same direction.
 
According to troopers, when Dowse stopped, the 66-year-old log truck driver tried to pass Dowse on the left. After that, the log truck driver collided with Dowse, killing him at the scene.
 
WSP said officials closed for eight hours.
 
The crash is under investigation.
