Raul Gonzalez Identified in Tucson Crash on Campbell Avenue

 
TUCSON, AZ (July 20, 2023) – The Tucson Police Department identfiied 33-year-old Raul Zepeda Gonzalez who died in a head-on crash on Campbell Avenue on July 9.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Canada Street at about 2:00 AM. Based on a report, Gonzalez was driving a white 2001 Nissan Altima northbound on Campbell prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 22-year-old Julian Anselmo Sosa was driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser and swerving back and forth between the median and curb lanes. Subsequently, he drifted into oncoming traffic and hit the Nissan Altima.
 
As a result, Gonzalez sustained grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
A female passenger in the Nissan sustained critical injuries in the crash.
 
Crews transported Sosa to the hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Officers arrested and booked Sosa into the Pima County Jail for charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault, and felony criminal damage.
