Pedestrian Killed, Miriam Badillo Arrested after Phoenix Accident

 
PHOENIX, AZ (July 20, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department arrested 26-year-old Miriam Madalena Badillo after a fatal pedestrian accident near 35th Avenue and Grand Avenue on July 5.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, northwest down Grand Avenue around 10:00 p.m. when she hit a curb and drove onto a sidewalk where the three people were standing.
 
One of the people hit sustained major injuries and died at the scene.
 
The other two suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, documents said. They were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital.
 
Police arrested Badillo on one count of manslaughter and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Documents show that Badillo’s blood alcohol level was 0.197%. The legal limit in Arizona is 0.08%.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
