FRESNO, CA (November 9, 2022) — Rashad Al-Hakim Jr. died after being struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian crash on First Street on Tuesday, October 4.

The fatal collision happened near Barstow Avenue in front of Hoover High School, according to the Hoover High School officials.

According to reports, administrators at Hoover High School dismissed students from the gym after a fight occurred without notifying parents. That is when 15-year-old Rashad crossed the street in front of the school and was hit by an oncoming car. He died a week later.

Respondents rushed Al-Hakim to a hospital, where he died a week later on Tuesday night, October 11.

There is no information about the identity of the involved driver. Officials stated that the influence of alcohol and/or drugs did not appear as a factor in the incident.

The circumstances behind the crash remain under investigation at this time.
