Jonas Villaverde Arrested after Fatal DUI Accident in Las Vegas

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (November 13, 2024) — Authorities arrested 60-year-old Jonas Villaverde after a DUI accident on Thursday, October 24.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of West Flamingo Road and Cameron Street at about 11:30 p.m.
 
Evidence at the scene suggests that a Ford Maverick driven by Villaverde traveled west on Flamingo Road. Then it hit a man crossing north near a marked crosswalk.
 
LVMPD said the front of the Ford hit the right side of the man. As a result, the impact propelled him forward onto the roadway.
 
Police said emergency responders brought the 34-year-old man to a nearby hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries and died several days later, on October 27.
 
According to the police, Villaverde showed signs of impairment. Then they arrested and charged him with DUI-related offenses.
 
The fatality marked the 131st traffic-related death for the LVMPD in 2024.
