Rodney Ahrens, Randy Agnew Dead in Yakima DUI Accident on Highway 821

 
YAKIMA CO, WA (July 8, 2024) — Two motorcyclists, Randy Agnew and Rodney Ahrens, died in a DUI accident on Friday, June 21.
 
The Washington State Patrol said the accident took place on Highway 821 near Pomona Road just after 11:00 a.m.
 
According to WSP, 24-year-old Beth Striver, of Kennewick, drove northbound on Highway 821. Then she turned left into three motorcycles moving in the southbound lane.
 
One of the motorcycle riders was 69-year-old Rodney Ahrens, of Issaquah. Emergency responders brought him to the hospital. However, he later died of his injuries.
 
A 75-year-old man from Issaquah, Randy Agnew, drove the second motorcycle. He sustained injuries and paramedics also brought him to the hospital. He died of his injuries while he was in surgery.
 
The third motorcycle was driven by a 68-year-old man from Renton. Along with him as a passenger is a 61-year-old woman who is also from Renton. Medics also brought them to the hospital for treatment of injuries. The extent of their current conditions was not immediately available.
 
Officials arrested Striver on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. She was not hurt in the accident.
