Randall Grooms Involved in DUI Crash on University Boulevard in West Odessa

 
WEST ODESSA, TX (February 15, 2024) – Odessa Police arrested 58-year-old Randall Dewayne Grooms of Odessa after a DUI crash on University Boulevard on February 3.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Redondo Avenue. Based on a report, Grooms was driving a Chevrolet truck when he failed to yield the right of way and tried to make a left turn onto Redondo Avenue.
 
Subsequently, he collided head-on with a Kia SUV.
 
As a result, Grooms, a 26-year-old man, and a 27-year-old woman in the Kia suffered injuries. A report also showed that a nine-year-old child in the Kia was seriously hurt. Crews transported them to the hospital for treatment.
 
Police charged Grooms with Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury after he failed a field sobriety test. They booked him into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
