Adam Buckner Died after Tucson Car Accident on Campbell Avenue and 6th Street
TUCSON, AZ (April 9, 2024) — A 31-year-old officer identified as Adam Buckner died in a car accident on Sunday, March 31.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Buckner responded to a call on Sunday night near North Campbell Avenue and East 6th Street.
TPD Chief of Police Chad Kasmar said that Buckner drove north on Campbell Avenue with his sirens on. Then a driver failed to yield the right of way while turning and the collision happened.
Community members administered CPR. After that, members of the Tucson Fire Department arrived and took over the medical treatment.
Crews subsequently brought Buckner to Banner University Medical Center, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Authorities closed the intersection and diverted traffic throughout the night. Then they reopened it early Monday morning.
Buckner began as an officer with the New Orleans Police Department in 2017. After that, he became a detective.
Around November 2021, Buckner started working with the Tucson Police Department. TPD said Buckner was a true professional. They added that he loved helping others and also took great pride in his work.
