Peter Klabanos Killed after Phoenix Pedestrian Accident on 29th Street and Thomas Road

 
PHOENIX, AZ (June 25, 2024) — A 46-year-old man, Peter Klabanos, died in a pedestrian accident on 29th Street on Saturday, June 8.
 
According to the Phoenix Police, officers responded to the area of 29th Street and Thomas Road at about 2:20 a.m. after receiving reports about an accident involving a pedestrian.
 
Officers believe Klabanos tried to cross Thomas Road when a vehicle struck him.
 
When officers arrived at the area, they discovered Klabanos seriously injured. Firefighters tried to save Klabanos, but he did not survive. They then pronounced him dead on the scene.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
 
Investigators said the driver displayed signs of impairment and they processed him for DUI before they released him. In addition, the driver may have also driven at a high rate of speed.
 
Authorities will decide the charges after toxicology and accident reports are complete.
