Man Dead in Hit-and-Run Crash on 25 Freeway near South Tejon Street

 
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (December 6, 2023) — A man died after a hit-and-run accident on 25 Freeway on Friday, October 20.
 
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers responded to a pedestrian accident shortly before 7:30 p.m. on 25 Freeway near South Tejon Street.
 
When they arrived at the scene, they found the pedestrian dead at the scene.
 
The CSPD investigation revealed a vehicle exited southbound 25 Freeway at the Tejon exit. At the same time, a pedestrian pushing an empty wheelchair tried to cross the street. Then the driver apparently struck the pedestrian. After that, it fled the scene and continued southbound on Tejon Street.
 
Officers have not yet released the identity of the deceased pedestrian. However, they reported that he may have been homeless and frequented the area under the overpass.
 
Authorities closed the 1200 block of South Tejon Street for several hours as they conducted an investigation.
 
There were no reports of arrests made in connection to the crash. CSPD continues to look for any identification of the vehicle and driver.
