Ozie Beason Killed in Gainesville Pedestrian Accident on 35 Freeway

 
GAINESVILLE, TX (March 22, 2023) – Officers identified 38-year-old Ozie Beason as the victim who was struck and killed by a semi-truck on 35 Freeway on March 15.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened just after 4:00 AM. Based on a report, Beason was trying to cross the street prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 47-year-old Omar Serna of Mesquite was driving a 2022 Kenworth T860 on the northbound side of the freeway. Due to unknown reasons, Serna struck Beason.
 
As a result, Beason suffered grave injuries in the incident. Cooke County Justice of the Peace Jody Henry declared him dead at the scene.
 
Officers said the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
