Serious Injuries Sustained in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway in Cowlitz County

 
COWLITZ COUNTY, WA (October 25, 2022) – One person suffered serious injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound 5 Freeway on October 23.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at milepost 36 near Longview around 1:20 AM.
 
Based on a report, four vehicles collided in the lanes. Upon arrival at the scene, troopers learned that the driver of the first car was tired and pulled over on the left shoulder, partially blocking the left lane. Subsequently two vehicles hit that car. Then, a fourth car hit one of the other cars.
 
As a result, the driver of the first car sustained life-threatening injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the second car suffered minor injuries.
 
As of now, the investigation into the case remains ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
