One Dead and Two Hospitalized after Speeding Accident on 99th Street and A Street South

 
TACOMA, WA (July 2, 2024) — One person died and two others sustained injuries after a speeding accident on 99th Street on Tuesday, June 18.
 
According to the Pierce County deputies, the crash took place on 99th Street South and A Street South at around 9:04 a.m.
 
Witnesses said there was a garbage truck picking up cans on the side of A Street. At the same time, a black pickup went into oncoming lanes at a high rate of speed. It then ran the stop sign and struck a tow truck. The impact pushed it into the victim’s vehicle.
 
The Central Pierce Fire and Tacoma Fire crews extricated one of the drivers from their vehicle That driver died at the hospital, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Darren Moss said.
 
Emergency responders also brought the other two drivers to the hospital with serious injuries.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the pickup driver for vehicular homicide.
