POULSBO, WA (January 10, 2024) – The Kitsap County Sheriff’ confirmed that one person died in a head-on crash in the 16200 block of Viking Way NW on December 25.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the Christmas Day collision involved two vehicles. Based on a report, one of the drivers was speeding at the time of the crash.
 
Authorities said the driver was under the influence and went into the opposite travel lane to pass a vehicle. The victim did not return to the correct lane and crashed head-on into a man and woman in a Toyota SUV.
 
As a result, the wrong-way driver suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
The man and woman in the Toyota were transported to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
 
The roadway was shut down for several hours as crews worked to investigate and clean up the scene.
