One Dead, Two Hospitalized in Gilbert Accident near Loop 202

 
GILBERT, AZ (October 16, 2023) — One person died and two others suffered injuries in a crash near Loop 202 on Wednesday, October 4.
 
According to the Gilbert Police Department, the fatal crash took place north of the Loop 202 freeway off Higley Road.
 
Officers initially responded to the scene at around 10:40 a.m. after receiving reports of numerous injuries.
 
At this time, the information about the crash is limited. However, Gilbert Police spokesperson Brenda Carrasco said the crash killed at least one person. In addition, she said paramedics transported two others to the hospital with injuries.
 
Authorities closed the southbound lanes of Higley beginning at Warner Road. They urged motorists to avoid the area throughout the afternoon.
 
Officers also closed the on-ramp from Higley Road to the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway for about an hour.
 
No other details about the crash were immediately available.
