Fatal Phoenix Car Crash on Highway 17

 
PHOENIX, AZ (March 8, 2023) – Phoenix Police confirmed that one person died in a multi-car crash on Highway 17 on March 2.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened between Thomas Road and Indian School Road shortly before 10:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, an Acura rear-ended a Kia. However, the details that led to the crash are not immediately available.
 
As a result of the crash, emergency crews had to extricate the driver from the Kia. Despite life-saving measures, the victim died at the hospital. Officials did not yet release the name of the victim, pending next of kin notification.
 
The driver of the Acura suffered non-life-threatening injuries while a third driver had minor injuries.
 
DPS investigators said speed and impairment were both factors leading to the crash. They will be filing charges against the Acura driver after the suspect’s hospitalization is concluded.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
