Fatal Fiery Accident Reported on Highway 89

 
CAMERON, AZ (March 7, 2025) — One person died and two others sustained injuries after a fiery accident on Highway 89 on Monday, March 3.
 
The Navajo Police Department reported that the accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on Highway 89 in The Gap area, just north of Tuba City.
 
Investigators said a pickup truck and a passenger car collided, causing a fire at the scene.
 
Emergency responders confirmed that one individual died on-site due to the crash.  The medical examiner will release the name of the person killed once officers have notified their next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, two others sustained injuries. Paramedics transported them to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Their current conditions were not immediately available.
 
Following the crash, officials closed both directions of Highway 89 while crews worked to manage the scene. Authorities reopened the northbound lanes shortly after 10:00 a.m., but the southbound lanes remained closed,
 
The investigation of the crash is still underway.
