FEDERAL WAY, WA (July 8, 2024) — One person died in a semi-truck accident on 5 Freeway in Federal Way on Thursday, June 20.
 
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the crash took place on the northbound 5 Freeway near South 288th Street at about 10:15 a.m.
 
WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said the semi-truck was parked on the shoulder when the crash with another vehicle occurred.
 
There are no reports on what caused the crash and how the accident happened. They also did not release if impairment or speed was a factor.
 
Johnson said they temporarily blocked the right lane of the freeway in the area while troopers investigated.
