Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Fatal Laveen Village Pedestrian Accident on 39th Avenue

 
LAVEEN VILLAGE, AZ (August 23, 2023) – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian accident on 39th Avenue on August 13.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Southern Avenue at approximately 11:00 PM. Based on a report, a vehicle hit two pedestrians and left the scene.
 
As a result, one of the victims, a man, suffered grave injuries and died at the hospital. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
The second victim, a woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
 
MCSO described the vehicle as a silver, white, or light-color sport utility vehicle with possible front-end damage to the grill, hood, and/or windshield.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
