Motorcyclist Killed in Accident on 5 Freeway at South 84th Street in Tacoma

 
TACOMA, WA (July 16, 2024) – Officials confirmed that one person died in a motorcycle accident on 5 Freeway on June 29.
 
The Washington State Patrol said the collision happened at South 84th Street around 7:17 PM. Based on a report, the victim was driving a motorcycle at a high rate of speed and attempted to change lanes.
 
Subsequently, the motorcycle hit a car, went into another lane, and hit another vehicle.
 
As a result, the motorcyclist suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
Officials said two other people suffered unknown injuries.
 
WSP, West Pierce Fire, and Washington State Department of Transportation Tacoma responded to the crash scene. Crews blocked the left two lanes of the northbound side of the freeway for three hours and 45 minutes while they worked on the scene.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
