WEST RICHLAND, WA (January 15, 2024) – Officials confirmed that one person died in a crash on Highway 240 on January 8.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Highway 225 around 5:45 AM. Based on a report, the victim was driving on the highway when they tried to pass another car.
 
Subsequently, the car hit an oncoming vehicle head-on, blocking the intersection.
 
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died in the crash. Officials did not release the deceased’s name, pending kin notification.
 
The incident also blocked the traffic near milepost 19, just west of the roundabout on Highway 240.
 
Emergency crews cleared and released the driver who was hit.
