HOUSTON, TX (January 15, 2024) – The Houston Police Department confirmed that two people died in a head-on crash on Highway 249 on January 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Breen Drive at approximately 8:02 AM. Based on a report, a ridesharing vehicle collided with another car. Investigators said the manner of the crash was violent.
 
As a result, a man driving the car and a woman in the passenger seat both suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release their names, pending kin notification.
 
The rideshare driver and his passenger suffered serious injuries but they are expected to survive.
 
Police said speed was a factor in the incident.
