Fatal Madera Hit-and-Run on Highway 99

 
MADERA, CA (August 19, 2022) — A driver died after a hit-and-run on Highway 99 in Madera early Sunday morning.

The collision happened around 1:45 a.m. near Avenue 16, according to authorities. The victim was driving a Chevrolet van southbound in the slow lane when a white-colored Toyota SUV slammed into the rear end of the van.

Based on several witnesses, the Toyota was driving in the southbound fast lane at a high speed before veering to the right. As a result, it crash into the Chevrolet.

The impact pushed the Chevrolet off the road as it overturned. This resulted in the driver ejecting from the van, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Authorities attempted to save the driver, however he died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the occupants of the Toyota exited the vehicle and ran from the crash site. They were nowhere to be found when officers arrived at the scene.

No further information is available as officials continue to conduct a search operation and investigation on the case.
