Fatal Tumwater Car Crash on 5 Freeway near Olympia Regional Airport
TUMWATER, WA (April 27, 2023) – Troopers confirmed that one person died in a car accident on northbound 5 Freeway on April 26.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Olympia Regional Airport at milepost 100.
Based on a report, the victim’s car was disabled in the second lane of the freeway prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, another car driving in the same lane crashed into it. Both cars came to a rest in a ditch on the right side of the roadway.
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Investigators identified him as a 22-year-old man from Beaverton, Oregon. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol contributed to this crash.
At this point, an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
