One Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 7

 
SPANAWAY, WA (May 22, 2024) — One person died following a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 7 on Friday, May 10.
 
According to Washington State Patrol trooper John Dattilo, the crash happened on Highway 7 near 176th Street South at around 6:00 a.m.
 
WSP said four vehicles, including a semi-truck, were stopped at a red light near 176th Street South. At the same time, a vehicle moving north on Highway 7 struck a red pickup. Then it rolled over and hit the rest of the vehicles.
 
The driver in the car that caused the crash sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Investigators said the driver was a man. However, they have not yet released his identity.
 
Emergency responders also brought another person to a local hospital with minor injuries.
 
Investigators are still determining whether speed contributed to the crash.
 
Authorities closed all northbound lanes of Highway 7 at milepost 48.33 following the accident. They diverted traffic to 170th Street South during the on-scene investigation. They reopened the roads at about 9:45 a.m.
