Longmont Bicycle Accident on 19th Avenue and Main Street

 
LONGMONT, CO (July 16, 2024) — A rider suffered injuries in a bicycle accident on 19th Avenue on Monday, June 24.
 
According to Longmont Police spokeswoman Robin Ericson, the accident took place at 19th Avenue and Main Street at around 6:44 a.m.
 
Longmont Police believe that a driver moved east on 19th Avenue and prepared to turn north onto Main Street. At the same time, the cyclist rode west on 19th Street and prepared to cross Main Street. Then the driver hit the cyclist with the front right side of their vehicle.
 
Ericson said paramedics brought the cyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.
 
Police determined the cyclist had the right of way. They said that the driver received a municipal summons because of failing to follow a traffic control device.
